You see, you can't just point your gun and kill them. And second, there's the monotonous 'shadow enemies' in the endless forest walks. First there's the camera angle, that isn't right behind the player (like in GTA games) but in an annoying sideway-position which causes me to run around like I'm drunk (constantly having to correct my path of where I accually want to go).

I got annoyed by the characters pretty fast as well. At first the game looks nice, but in cutscenes it really looks crappy (compared to Max Payne 3 for example). I thought the game would be on the same level as Max Payne (quality-wise), with a good story, but am kinda disappointed.

Started playing it today (bought it 4 years ago during a sale or something).

More of a 3rd person shooter game, with much greater variety of weapons, short story and an arcade mode - rather than a full game sequel, it's more of a DLC story. For more action and shooting there's a sequel called Alan Wake's American Nightmare. I'm trying to say that if one would be getting Alan Wake just to have some cheap fun of killing enemies and blasting things away, it would be pitty as the game concentrates on symbolism and hidden messages more. And since you've mentioned it, Quantum Break (and also Max Payne) all take place in the same universe as Alan Wake does, you can see many, many references in Quantum Break related to Alan Wake, just thought I'd mention it, lol. I meant to say that Alan Wake brings satisfaction in exploring the story, going behind the scenes, reading up and discovering all that is not directly shown to you - it's about paying attention. but i will start playing them when i want to. i love the game inside and quantum break but gave up because they are extremly hard games. i have 270 hours invested in hitman 2016. I don't mean to be invasive or anything but I wouldn't want you to be disappointed that it did not meet the expectations we gave you, that you made based upon our feedback. Considering you have 0-4 hours on 50% of your games (5 out of 10) and a vast majority of them aren't story-rich, you might wanna reconsider getting Alan Wake. Originally posted by Sahrot Rein:I'd like to just, yet again, point out the fact that the game itself is worth buying, playing and investing time into but not for all. Just overall a nice, smooth-controlling sort of comforting well looking well made game which I love (lol).

(Story ) My main attraction to the game, together with the light/dark ''play''.Īs I've stated it's a kind of horror-esque experience which can get under ones skin if or when playing at late hours but is nothing out of the ordinary in this sense that it's horrific. or an other third person shooter comparatively, only difference in gameplay now is how hat there is a bonus 'tactical' aspect added to the gameplay in form of a 'flashlight', which you have to use in combination with other weapons to take out the 'shadow-folk' the ''shadow-people'' or as they are called 'he Taken', so there is a story line to progress, which is very atmospheric in addition to the gameplay itself. Overall content of the game in this sense is like a. not that I could name any because this game takes elements from many popular games of the old school era (Resident-Evil mostly, so in this sense it reminds me of that game). I like it and would recommend to try it out if you like games that are perhaps similar. Together with its story-line and narration sequences in between the gameplay, I was quite ''taken'' away by it. The game is a horror-ish, dark kind of experience and has a good sound to accompany or compliment this gameplay feature. I mean, I find the scenes at night breathtakingly beautiful. It has a very nice, attractive visual design and/or content which is aesthetically pleasing.

Other 3rd person 'shooters' hat are found equally on a Console and/or the PC saying it's not a bad game because of this, on the contrary: it fits this type of game very well as it is a story driven experience (opposed to say, something like a complete open world, which this game in a sense resembles). I think it's a crossbreed between a console and a PC game, so in this sense it's a specific taste or feeling you'll probably get out of it, that is similar to perhaps other games of this nature.
